Buying a laptop

I went to buy a laptop. Asked the guy what hardware this very cheap laptop had inside and happened to mention that I'm going to install Linux to it. When I was leaving he got curious and said so you are going install Linux to it. I said Yes, and said that I have used mainly Linux for a long time and my desktop computer only has Linux. Then he went ahead and asked so you have graphical desktop there and that kind of stuff...

yea, there a lot of dull witted sales people working in tech. Then again tech can be rather escoteric and folks can focus to the exclusion of a wider world. But in all honesty the guy did not get that a desktop is the GUI. Ah the abstraction of lingo.

and, DUH. :)

I hope you said "No, I have 32 text-only consoles and do everything in esoteric program called EMACS".

These guys better stay away from the voodoo...
